Weekly President Elect Address - Dec. 24th 2008

Blast the Right! - Year End Review - By Jack Clark

This is absolutely fabulous. Take the time to listen. Its about 25 minutes. And if you like it, subscribe and then rate it on itunes, it will help Jack keep his podcast in view. Its a great podcast for progressives! Need ammo against the right or are from the right and want to know why you aren't "right"? This is one of the best around!

Blast the Right! Year in Review

Rememberance: A recollection of a poem written shortly after I left Christianity

As we come upon the new year, I find a time to reflect. It has been one year since I became a vegetarian, and things are much different now. The days of being addicted to forums appear on the surface to be at an end as the forum I post to is being shut down in two days. So, as I'm looking through diaries and forum posts, I came across the first poem I ever wrote after my deconversion. It shows, in rare form, the anguish involved with leaving a faith you have had your entire life. It wasn't an easy choice and it left me without answers before I was willing to live with just the questions.

So with out further stalling, the day that started my journey towards atheism. The day I became, The Waiting.

The Waiting

This is my first entry. I write this because I need to
find purpose in life again. Though my heart is filled
with joy, my soul writhes in angst. Be there no Savior,
be there no God, be there nothing to filled the void in my
soul? Who would have thought that a stroll through the
Book would yield itself to untruth, uncertainty, and
fables of the mind. One should never traverse a spiritual
journey and find wanting at its end. Never should the
soul be empty when one seeks to fill it!

From here shall a new chapter be written upon the pages of
my soul, if it is that a soul trully exists. If god
trully exists, I pray that I would be graced enough to
find him. To long have I blindly followed in the steps of
my ancestors, to long have i ridden the waves of untested
belief, to long have i chosen the path of righteousness as
so discerned by men.

Never shall I cling to undying principle without undying
truth. You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set
you free. But perhaps, some bonds shouldnt have been
broken. How I long for the certainty that death would
bring life. How I wish that ultimate truth was still in
my heart and mind. Yet, now being set free, I am
uncertain to where I should travel.

I shall be a chaffe in the wind, blowing through life with
out a reason for existence. I trully shall be strong for
my family, they need me. But I no longer know what I
should teach my son. My father taught me values from the
good book, yet my path lies elsewhere. Yes, my truth
escapes me even to the writing of these words! Universal
truth shall elude me until the day that I shall again
unravel its mysteries.

I wait for universal love to be revealed. I search for
universal truth. I long for a higher power, a higher
calling, a higher love. I long for that which I once held
onto. It now runs from me, and I still chase. Until the
day of revelation comes, I remain, the waiting.

Obama and Acorn: The Truth Instead of Lies

Barack Obama Never Organized with ACORN

Discredited Republican voter-suppression guru Ken Blackwell is attacking Barack Obama with naked lies about his supposed connection to ACORN.

• Fact: Barack was never an ACORN community organizer.
• Fact: Barack was never an ACORN trainer and never worked for ACORN in any other capacity.
• Fact: ACORN was not part of Project Vote, the successful voter registration drive Barack ran in 1992.

In his capacity as an attorney, Barack represented ACORN in a successful lawsuit alongside the U.S. Department of Justice against the state of Illinois to force state compliance with a federal voting access law. For his work helping enforce the law, called “Motor Voter,” Barack received the IVI-IPO Legal Eagle Award in 1995. (For more about Barack’s career, check out our Obama bio.)

Ken Blackwell is best known today for disenfranchising Democratic voters in his dual role as Ohio Secretary of State and chair of George Bush’s Ohio campaign in 2004. To see him shed crocodile tears for the integrity of the vote while making accusations about Barack and ACORN with absolutely no basis in fact is disturbing.

Blackwell’s attacks against ACORN and community organizers continue a vile Republican pattern of mockery and viciousness against this noble profession. Community organizers are the very individuals Republicans should be celebrating for helping people to help themselves rather than depending on the government.

Obama’s Voter Registration Drive Registered 150,000 New Voters, The Highest Number of a Single Local Effort. In 1993, Crain’s Chicago wrote of Obama’s effort to register voters for Bill Clinton’s election, “Last year, Barack Obama galvanized Chicago’s political community, as no seasoned politico had before. The director of Illinois Project Vote orchestrated an unwieldy band of 10 staff members and 700 volunteers to the tune of 150,000 new voters for the general election — the highest number registered in a single local effect. ‘Under Barack’s leadership, we had the most successful, cost-effective and orderly voter registration drive I’ve ever been involved with,’ says Alderman Sam Burrell of the West Side’s 29th Ward.” [Crain’s Chicago Business, 9/27/93]

Chicago Magazine: Obama Headed “Most Effective Minority Voter Registration Drive.” Chicago Magazine reported, “None of this, of course, was accidental. The most effective minority voter registration drive in memory was the result of careful handiwork by Project Vote!, the local chapter of a not-for-profit national organization. "It was the most efficient campaign I have seen in my 20 years in politics," says Sam Burrell, alderman of the West Side’s 29th Ward and a veteran of many registration drives. At the head of this effort was a little-known 31-year-old African-American lawyer, community organizer, and writer: Barack Obama.” [Chicago Magazine, 1/93]

National Project Vote Director Sandy Newman: Obama Did “One Hell of a Job.” Chicago Magazine reported, ““Project Vote! is nonpartisan, strictly nonpartisan. But we do focus our efforts on minority voters, and on states where we can explain to them why their vote will matter. Braun made that easier in Illinois.” So [Sandy] Newman decided to open a Cook County Project Vote! office and went looking for someone to head it. The name Barack Obama surfaced. “I was asking around among community activists in Chicago and around the country, and they kept mentioning him,” Newman says. Obama by then was working with church and community leaders on the West Side, and he was writing a book that the publisher Simon & Schuster had contracted for while he was editor of the law review. He was 30 years old. When Newman called, Obama agreed to put his other work aside. “I’m still not quite sure why,” Newman says. “This was not glamorous, high-paying work. But I am certainly grateful. He did one hell of a job.” [Chicago Magazine, 1/93]

Obama Trained Registrars And Ran Media Saturation Campaign. Chicago Magazine reported, “Within a few months, Obama, a tall, affable workaholic, had recruited staff and volunteers from black churches, community groups, and politicians. He helped train 700 deputy registrars, out of a total of 11,000 citywide. And he began a saturation media campaign with the help of black-owned Brainstorm Communications.” [Chicago Magazine, 1/93]

Close Daley Advisor: “Barack Ran This Superbly.” Chicago Magazine reported, “Some of Daley’s closest advisers are similarly impressed. “In its technical demands, a voter-registration drive is not unlike a mini-political campaign,” says John Schmidt, chairman of the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority and a fundraiser for Project Vote! “Barack ran this superbly. I have no doubt he could run an equally good political campaign if that’s what he decided to do next.”” [Chicago Magazine, 1/93]

Project Vote Credited With Voter Registration Surge. The Wall Street Journal reported, “Voting experts at the Democratic National Committee point to surging registration in several big cities, such as Detroit, Chicago and Philadelphia. Most of that work has been done by the nonpartisan Project Vote, a voter participation organization based in Washington, D.C. Its director, Sandy Newman, says his group has helped to register 150,000 new voters, almost all of them black, in Pennsylvania; 110,000 in Chicago; 70,000 in Michigan; 40,000 in Ohio; and 160,000 (with the help of the New York Public Interest Research Group) in New York City. With the exception of New York, where Mr. Clinton holds a big lead, these are all battleground states, and most of these voters will cast their ballots for Mr. Clinton.” [Wall Street Journal, 10/30/92]

Chicago Sun Times Headline: “‘Project Vote’ Brings Power to the People.” The Chicago Sun-Times reported, “Project Vote, a collectivity of 10 church-based community organizations dedicated to black voter registration, is off and running. Project Vote is increasing its rolls at a 7,000-per-week clip. Just last Saturday it registered 2,000 during the Chicago Defender’s annual Bud Billiken Parade.” [Chicago Sun-Times, 8/11/92]

Obama And Other Attorneys Represented ACORN In Their Suit Against The State Of Illinois To Force It To Implement The 1993 Motor Voter Law. In 2007, the AP reported, “Representing the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), Obama and other attorneys sued the state of Illinois, forcing it to implement federal ‘Motor Voter’ legislation that makes it easier for the poor and minorities to register to vote.” According the U.S. Court Of Appeals, 7th Circuit docket for ACORN v. Edgar, “Appellees, United States and others, sought to force appellant State of Illinois to comply with the provisions of the National Registration Act of 1993 (motor voter law)…The United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois granted the United States an injunction that compelled the State of Illinois to enforce the motor voter law. The State of Illinois appealed…On appeal, the State of Illinois argued that Congress could not force state governments to administer a federal program that facilitated the registration of voters in federal elections. The court stated that Congress had the power to regulate federal elections under the powers granted by [the U.S. Constitution] mandated the states to initially set up the system of federal elections within their own jurisdiction, subject to the whims of Congress. The court found that these powers and mandates implicitly extended to voter registration as well. [AP, 2/20/07; ACORN, et al v. Edgar, Nos. 95-1800, 95-1801, 95-1802, 95-1803]

Ø Obama Was One Of Three Miner Barnhill Attorneys To Represent ACORN When The Illinois State Board Of Elections Attempted To Dismiss The U.S. District Court’s Order In ACORN v. Edgar In Late 1995. Miner Barnhill Attorneys Obama, Judson Miner, and Jeffrey Cummings were listed as Counsel for ACORN when the Illinois State Board Of Elections attempted to dismiss the U.S. District Court’s order in ACORN v. Edgar in November 1995. On January 26, 1996, the U.S. Court Of Appeals denied the Board’s motion. According to the court’s opinion, “The court dismissed the appeal of defendant governor and other state officials because the district court had not issued a final order from which an appeal could be brought. [ACORN v. Illinois State Board Of Elections, et al. No. 95-3456, U.S. Court Of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit]

Ø Obama Was Listed As The Lead Attorney For ACORN In Court Proceeding Regarding Illinois Motor Voter Implementation Plans; Deval Patrick Was The Lead Attorney For The U.S. Department Of Justice. “For United States of America: Deval L. Patrick, Assistant Attorney General, James B. Burns, United States Attorney, Elizabeth Johnson, Barry H. Weinberg, Tricia A. Tingle, Peter A. Hernandez, Attorneys, Voting Section, Civil Rights Division, Department of Justice, Washington, DC….For Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, Barack Obama, Esq., Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland, Chicago, Illinois, Steve Bachmann, Esq., ACORN, Granger, Indiana.” [ACORN v. Edgar, United States District Court, Northern District, Illinois, No. 95 C 174]

1995: Obama Received The IVI-IPO Legal Eagle Award For IVI-IPO For His Work In Bringing Illinois Into Compliance With The Motor Voter Law. “In 1993, Obama was named by Crain’s Chicago Business as one of “40 under 40” outstanding young leaders in the city of Chicago. He is the recipient of the 1995 Legal Eagle Award from IVI-IPO for his work in bringing Illinois into compliance with the National Voter Registration Act (Motor-Voter). His commentaries have been heard on National Public Radio and his memoir Dreams of My Father was published by Random House in August 1995.” [IL State Senate Majority Caucus Obama Profile (Archived) available here]

Earliest References Describe Christ as Magician

A team of scientists led by renowned French marine archaeologist Franck Goddio recently announced that they have found a bowl, dating to between the late 2nd century B.C. and the early 1st century A.D., that is engraved with what they believe could be the world's first known reference to Christ.

If the word "Christ" refers to the Biblical Jesus Christ, as is speculated, then the discovery may provide evidence that Christianity and paganism at times intertwined in the ancient world.

The full engraving on the bowl reads, "DIA CHRSTOU O GOISTAIS," which has been interpreted by the excavation team to mean either, "by Christ the magician" or, "the magician by Christ."

Well ladies and gents, its been a while since I last blogged, but hey, life gets in the way of life some times. But this is a great place to start.

I have found that this is really bothering some people! They get all upset and say that it is probably not "their" christ who is "the magician". However, the claim has often been that there was only one christ. If there were more than one person called christ back then, then the obvious "myth" scenario comes into play. Which stories are about which Jesus Christ if there was more than one? Where they all true? Where all the christs Messiahs?

The clear answer, in response to this and all the evidence so far compiled by scholars, is that Jesus Christ is less of a man, and more a compilation of stories about many people in a superstitious time period by superstitious people. After all, the stories of Jesus were compiled by people who would have formerly been pagans, and a man calling people to follow the law would not have held up very well. That is why Paul came to a town and claimed the the greek alter to the unknown god, was really Jesus!

But this subject has christians so upset and crying that they have turned to actually insulting me! Me! HAHAHA! Dumbass, if the story offends you, don't read it! But then, as I have already explained, the problem is that this really challenges what they believe. That is why they get upset. If it was nothing, they wouldn't even care. But it isn't "nothing" its something, thats why the vomit out hate and anger towards the likes of me.

Get over it christians. Your faith is a lie. We all know it, some of us just finally stopped lying to ourselves.

FCC Rules Against Comcast for BitTorrent Blocking

Strike up the band for the good guys!!!!

The FCC finally made a good choice! Comcast cannot just block traffic because it takes up bandwidth! I pay for bandwidth and I can use it how ever I want. I don't pay for the right to download specific things unless that site charges, so comcast doesn't have a right to block it! Thank you FCC!

Atheist Rant Against Gay Pride Parades

Well, I never thought I would be writing this. I am very pro-gay. I want gays to be able to marry and adopt and have kids like straight people can. I still feel it is not fair and it is discriminatory to prevent them from having the same rights we have as straight people. I believe people are born gay and that homosexuality is normal and natural in every way. Even if it wasn't, I would still approve of it if my son or daughter is gay. So it is with a heavy heart, and an angry betrayed countenance that I write this piece of pure unadulterated venom against the gay community.

My source of venom are the pictures linked to this BLOG.

Follow the link to Flickr on it to see the pictures from the 2007 gay pride parade. And let it begin.

This is a set of tame pictures. A set of pictures that still includes plenty of men in thongs dancing around. Can you please tell my what the fuck naked men dancing in public has to do with gay pride? Can you please tell me what the fuck about half naked men dancing publically can do to promote gay tolerance and gay acceptance? Are you people (yes, you people, as in people who didn't fucking think before doing this shit!) out of your fucking god damn minds? Straight people have to follow the decency laws about public nudity and you violate it whimsically and label it gay pride? You dipshit fucking moron!

When you should be showing the world that you are just like everyone else, you let idiots in who where bondage clothings and walk people on a leash in diapers, something the is not inherently gay! You let extremists run the show and now prove to the country, in their eyes, that you are in deed nothing but a community of sexual deviants! Could you be any more stupid!? Do you want people to not let you marry or be like everyone else? Do you enjoy being discriminated against? What on earth is wrong with you people? Thats not pride, it should be shame for what you are displaying publically! Being gay isn't about getting naked and having sex in public, or show off your dick, tits, and cunt to the entire world to see! Its about nothing at all! Its about the fact that being gay is nothing at all! Its not different, it is normal and natural and you are fucking up that argument you stupid bitches!

How can I take my child to a gay pride parade when there are half naked people flaunting their nudity in public? How will I explain an grown man in diapers to my 8 year old son huh? Oh there are plenty of normal people in the parade that I want him to see. Two dads with their sons, two moms with their kids. People loving people being like everyone else is what he needs to see! He doesn't need to see a grown man dancing in a thong like at a strip club, which incidentally, he is too young to get into !

By endorsing, allowing, and promoting this kind of behavior, the gay community is fighting a brutal war against itself and the bad side is winning! The recent LA parade was apparently more foul than usual! IDIOTS! There is a constitutional amendment to BAN GAY MARRIAGE coming up and you pull this stunt!? When you need to be reaching out and showing and telling people you are just like everyone else, calming their fears about accepting a sexual deviant, you FEEDING their worst fears!

If you in the gay community are to fucking stupid to stand up and squash this insane disgusting display of over the top sexuality at a family event, then you deserve what you get. If you are not smart enough to understand what you are doing to your cause, then fuck you! I'm not standing up for you any more! Either I see someone with some rational thinking, or I will not stand up for your rights any more! I will not open myself up to ridicule with a yard sign promoting gay marriage just too see gay people make a fool out of me and this god damn sex parade! Get it together or go back in the closet!

If you continue on, then you will never be accepted and you will never have the same rights as everyone else. The way you acted at the parade with embarrassing. It has nothing to do with being gay and you know it! So act like! Act like reasonable human beings in a parade designed to show everyone that being gay is normal and natural. Don't let fucking sadomasochists and hyper sexual large jocked men make this into a sex parade. That gives ammo to the enemy and fuel to the fire.

Some one in the gay community needs to stand up and say what needs to be said and act like a responsible intelligent adults instead of hyper hormonal fucking dick heads!

Why Jesus Cannot Be the Messiah: Part 3

This one is all about Matthew. Much of the messiah myth rests on the multiple prophecies found in Matthew that Jesus supposedly fulfills. So lets take a look at them one at a time.

Matt 1:23"The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel"—which means, "God with us."

Its counter is Isaiah 7:14. Unfortunately, all it takes is a bit of reading of that chapter to know that Isaiah is not talking about a future messiah, but to king Ahaz about his son and his kingship continuing on after the Assyrian invastion.

Matt 2:6"But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah;for out of you will come a ruler who will be the shepherd of my people Israel.'"

The counter prophecy to this lies in Micah 5:2 which says: Matt 5:1-3

1 Marshal your troops, O city of troops,
for a siege is laid against us.
They will strike Israel's ruler
on the cheek with a rod.

2 "But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
though you are small among the clans of Judah,
out of you will come for me
one who will be ruler over Israel,
whose origins are from of old,
from ancient times. "

3 Therefore Israel will be abandoned
until the time when she who is in labor gives birth
and the rest of his brothers return
to join the Israelites.

Of course the problem is easy. No mention of a messiah exists, the ruler is very obviously a military ruler, Israel wasn't abandoned, and Jesus didn't reunite all of them. As well, Bethlehem Ephrathah is not referring to a city at all, but a person, and there is no lineage to have come from him to say this is some prophecy fulfilled in Jesus. Thus, this again is no fulfilled prophecy, in any manner at all.

Matt 2:15 15where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: "Out of Egypt I called my son."

The counter prophecy to this one is rather silly. Not like some are not, but lets just read the counter prophetic scriture Matthew is talking about.

Hosea 11:1, but I'm going to post through verse three.

1 "When Israel was a child, I loved him,
and out of Egypt I called my son.

2 But the more I called Israel,
the further they went from me.
They sacrificed to the Baals
and they burned incense to images.

3 It was I who taught Ephraim to walk,
taking them by the arms;
but they did not realize
it was I who healed them.

Clear as day, this scripture is referring to Israels release from the Egyptian bondage and how they let god down since. This isn't even a prophecy at all, let alone a messianic prophecy.

Matt 2:17-18
17 Then what was said through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled:
18"A voice is heard in Ramah,
weeping and great mourning,
Rachel weeping for her children
and refusing to be comforted,
because they are no more."

Jeremiah 31:15 is the counter prophecy to this verse. Matthew claims Jeremiah's prophecy is being fulfilled. So lets read it in contect.

Jeremiah 31:14-16
14 I will satisfy the priests with abundance,
and my people will be filled with my bounty,"
declares the LORD.

15 This is what the LORD says:
"A voice is heard in Ramah,
mourning and great weeping,
Rachel weeping for her children
and refusing to be comforted,
because her children are no more."

16 This is what the LORD says:
"Restrain your voice from weeping
and your eyes from tears,
for your work will be rewarded,"
declares the LORD.
"They will return from the land of the enemy.

This is not a prophecy at all either. Nothing in this says it is a prophecy, it doesn't predict anything, and it surely is not a messianic prophecy. This is a nostradamus like stretch. If this is valid prophecy, then so is all of Nostradamus work.

Matt 3:3
3This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah:
"A voice of one calling in the desert,
'Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him.' "

Alright, the counter to this one is Isaiah 40:3 but we will take 1-5 for context.

Isaiah 40:1-5
1 Comfort, comfort my people,
says your God.

2 Speak tenderly to Jerusalem,
and proclaim to her
that her hard service has been completed,
that her sin has been paid for,
that she has received from the LORD's hand
double for all her sins.

3 A voice of one calling:
"In the desert prepare
the way for the LORD [a] ;
make straight in the wilderness
a highway for our God. [b]

4 Every valley shall be raised up,
every mountain and hill made low;
the rough ground shall become level,
the rugged places a plain.

5 And the glory of the LORD will be revealed,
and all mankind together will see it.
For the mouth of the LORD has spoken."

Again, what prophecy? If this is a messianic prophecy then it failed miserably. No valleys raised up, or mountains and hills made low, or rough ground level. And no glory of the loard revealed with all mankind together seeing it. Taken in context, there is nothing prophetic relating to anything about Jesus in this verse.

Matt 4:13-16
13Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum, which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali—

14to fulfill what was said through the prophet Isaiah:

15"Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali,
the way to the sea, along the Jordan,
Galilee of the Gentiles—

16the people living in darkness
have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of the shadow of death
a light has dawned."

So, the source of this one is Isaiah 9:1-2 so I'll quote a few more for context.

Isaiah 9:1-5
1 Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who were in distress. In the past he humbled the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the future he will honor Galilee of the Gentiles, by the way of the sea, along the Jordan-

2 The people walking in darkness
have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of the shadow of death
a light has dawned.

3 You have enlarged the nation
and increased their joy;
they rejoice before you
as people rejoice at the harvest,
as men rejoice
when dividing the plunder.

4 For as in the day of Midian's defeat,
you have shattered
the yoke that burdens them,
the bar across their shoulders,
the rod of their oppressor.

5 Every warrior's boot used in battle
and every garment rolled in blood
will be destined for burning,
will be fuel for the fire.

Obviously this refers to something more than seeing Jesus. Because he refers to rejoicing at harvest, dividing plunder, and warriors bathed in blood. None of which relates to Jesus walk along the shore. Later, Isaiah 9 will once again be used to say Jesus fulfilled a prophecy. But once again, we will see it is nothing but palpable nonsense.

Matt 8:16-17
16When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick.
17This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:
"He took up our infirmities
and carried our diseases."

Isaiah 53:4 is the counter "prophecy" to this prediction. This is the famous "suffering servent" passage so touted as referring to Jesus. See previous post as to why this is ridiculous.

Matt 11:10
10 This is the one about whom it is written:
" 'I will send my messenger ahead of you,
who will prepare your way before you.'

Okay, so here, Matthew is putting words in John the Baptists mouth. So lets look at the counter prophetic verse.

Malachi 3:1-4
1 "See, I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come," says the LORD Almighty.

2 But who can endure the day of his coming? Who can stand when he appears? For he will be like a refiner's fire or a launderer's soap. 3 He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; he will purify the Levites and refine them like gold and silver. Then the LORD will have men who will bring offerings in righteousness, 4 and the offerings of Judah and Jerusalem will be acceptable to the LORD, as in days gone by, as in former years.

If this is referring to Jesus, then god lied. People not only endured his coming, but they rejected him when he came. He didn't purify the levites, and there were no offerings of Judah and Jersusalem like in days gone by. Its a scam. There is a prophesy here, but Jesus doesn't match it at all.

Matt 12:17-21
17This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:
18"Here is my servant whom I have chosen,
the one I love, in whom I delight;
I will put my Spirit on him,
and he will proclaim justice to the nations.
19He will not quarrel or cry out;
no one will hear his voice in the streets.
20A bruised reed he will not break,
and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out,
till he leads justice to victory.
21In his name the nations will put their hope."

Isaiah 42:1-4 is the counter, so lets read through and find out what Isaiah is talking about.

Isaiah 42:1-4
1 "Here is my servant, whom I uphold,
my chosen one in whom I delight;
I will put my Spirit on him
and he will bring justice to the nations.

2 He will not shout or cry out,
or raise his voice in the streets.

3 A bruised reed he will not break,
and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out.
In faithfulness he will bring forth justice;

4 he will not falter or be discouraged
till he establishes justice on earth.
In his law the islands will put their hope."

I'm not sure why this is a prophecy. Seems like he is pointing out what his servant will be like. After all, Jesus did shout in the temple, he didn't bring justice to the nations, he didn't establish justice on earth, and his law is not the hope of said islands. If this is a prophecy, then just because someone says someone will be righteous doesn't mean that everyone who is righteous suddenly fulfilled the prophecy.

Matt 13:13-15
13This is why I speak to them in parables:
"Though seeing, they do not see;
though hearing, they do not hear or understand.
14In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah:
" 'You will be ever hearing but never understanding;
you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.
15For this people's heart has become calloused;
they hardly hear with their ears,
and they have closed their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
hear with their ears,
understand with their hearts
and turn, and I would heal them.'

The counter to this is actually much much harsher that the prophecy is made out to be.

Isaiah 6:6-12
6 Then one of the seraphs flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar.

7 With it he touched my mouth and said, "See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for."

8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?"
And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"

9 He said, "Go and tell this people:
" 'Be ever hearing, but never understanding;
be ever seeing, but never perceiving.'

10 Make the heart of this people calloused;
make their ears dull
and close their eyes. [a]
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
hear with their ears,
understand with their hearts,
and turn and be healed."

11 Then I said, "For how long, O Lord?"
And he answered:
"Until the cities lie ruined
and without inhabitant,
until the houses are left deserted
and the fields ruined and ravaged,

12 until the LORD has sent everyone far away
and the land is utterly forsaken.

So not only are they not supposed to hear or see, but they won't until everything is destroyed. So Jesus speaks in parables because of this prophecy? Wouldn't it not matter at all since they will be like that until everything is destroyed? Should someone who knew that scripture know that? Not a prophecy of Jesus, no matter who many times he quotes it.

Matt 13:34-35
34Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; he did not say anything to them without using a parable. 35So was fulfilled what was spoken through the prophet:
"I will open my mouth in parables,
I will utter things hidden since the creation of the world."

As you can guess, it has a scriptural counter that is of course not a prophecy at all when looked at in context.

Psalm 78:1-3
1 O my people, hear my teaching;
listen to the words of my mouth.

2 I will open my mouth in parables,
I will utter hidden things, things from of old-

3 what we have heard and known,
what our fathers have told us.

Title of this psalm is A Maskil of Asaph. So this is a psalm to the people, he is essentially teaching the people and telling them he will teach them in parable that they have known from their fathers. No prophecy is a good prophecy if you ask me!

Matthew 15:7-9
7You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you:
8" 'These people honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me.
9They worship me in vain;
their teachings are but rules taught by men.'"

COunter Isaiah 29:13 but reading 12 and 14 with it helps a bit.

Isaiah 29:12-14
12 Or if you give the scroll to someone who cannot read, and say, "Read this, please," he will answer, "I don't know how to read."

13 The Lord says:
"These people come near to me with their mouth
and honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me.
Their worship of me
is made up only of rules taught by men.

14 Therefore once more I will astound these people
with wonder upon wonder;
the wisdom of the wise will perish,
the intelligence of the intelligent will vanish."

In context, it appears to be directly addressing someone in possession of scripture but doesn't know how to read it. There is no prophecy here either.

Matt 21:3-5
3If anyone says anything to you, tell him that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away."

4This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet:
5"Say to the Daughter of Zion,
'See, your king comes to you,
gentle and riding on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a donkey.' "

Okay, Zechariah 9:9 gets the nod here. So lets look at it with some context.

Zechariah 9:9-10
9 Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion!
Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem!
See, your king [a] comes to you,
righteous and having salvation,
gentle and riding on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

10 I will take away the chariots from Ephraim
and the war-horses from Jerusalem,
and the battle bow will be broken.
He will proclaim peace to the nations.
His rule will extend from sea to sea
and from the River to the ends of the earth.

Unless Jesus brought peace to the nations and his rule extended to all the earth, then this isn't about him. Now, I know christians who say "he will when he makes his second comming". Well, ain't that special. Funny thing about prophecy. In order to validate something through prophecy, the prophecy must come true. Thus, if this verse of prophecy "will" come true, until it does, it not only doesn't validate Jesus as messiah or ruler, but is evidence against that idea.

Matt 21:31
31Then Jesus told them, "This very night you will all fall away on account of me, for it is written:
" 'I will strike the shepherd,
and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.'

Zechariah 13:7 is the counter. Sorry JC, you are wrong on this. That isn't what that verse is about at all.

Zechariah 13:6-8
6 If someone asks him, 'What are these wounds on your body [a] ?' he will answer, 'The wounds I was given at the house of my friends.'
The Shepherd Struck, the Sheep Scattered
7 "Awake, O sword, against my shepherd,
against the man who is close to me!"
declares the LORD Almighty.
"Strike the shepherd,
and the sheep will be scattered,
and I will turn my hand against the little ones.

8 In the whole land," declares the LORD,
"two-thirds will be struck down and perish;
yet one-third will be left in it.

Jesus conveniently leaves out the rest of the verse that doesn't make sense to what he is saying. As well, this is clearly talking about the lords vengeance against people. It even gives numbers of people to be struck down. This has zero to do with Peter and his denial.

Matt 27:8-10
8That is why it has been called the Field of Blood to this day. 9Then what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled: "They took the thirty silver coins, the price set on him by the people of Israel, 10and they used them to buy the potter's field, as the Lord commanded me."

First off, the counter is not in Jeremiah, it is in Zechariah, so there is the first idiotic writing.

Zechariah 11:12-14
12 I told them, "If you think it best, give me my pay; but if not, keep it." So they paid me thirty pieces of silver.

13 And the LORD said to me, "Throw it to the potter"-the handsome price at which they priced me! So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them into the house of the LORD to the potter.

What on earth does this have to do with Judas? Nothing, thats what. No prophecy again.

In fact, there is only one prophecy in all of Matthew that is actually a prophecy and it is clearly no about Jesus. Not to mention, I know there is a scripture in Matthew that says that Jesus was born in Nazereth to fulfill the prophecy that he would be called a Nazerene. But that companion verse actually is referring to Samson, and it is that he will be called a Nazerite, not a Nazerene which means he has long hair and will never cut it. The writer of Matthew clearly made much of what he wrote up and clearly didn't understand the translations of scripture very well.

Why Jesus Cannot be the Messiah: Part 2

This scripture is another famously touted prophecy that Jesus fulfills.

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14

Immanuel of course means "god with us" so Jesus was god, thus Immanuel, and born of Mary the Virgin. But there is a problem here. Lets ignore the translation issues with "virgin" that everyone knows about but christians justify away and do what christians tell us to. Lets read it in context and find out what this is all really about. I'll quote most of Chapter 7 of Isaiah to prove the point.

1. When Ahaz son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, was king of Judah, King Rezin of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel marched up to fight against Jerusalem, but they could not overpower it.

2. Now the house of David was told, "Aram has allied itself with Ephraim"; so the hearts of Ahaz and his people were shaken, as the trees of the forest are shaken by the wind.

3. Then the LORD said to Isaiah, "Go out, you and your son Shear-Jashub, to meet Ahaz at the end of the aqueduct of the Upper Pool, on the road to the Washerman's Field.

4. Say to him, 'Be careful, keep calm and don't be afraid. Do not lose heart because of these two smoldering stubs of firewood—because of the fierce anger of Rezin and Aram and of the son of Remaliah.

5. Aram, Ephraim and Remaliah's son have plotted your ruin, saying,

6. "Let us invade Judah; let us tear it apart and divide it among ourselves, and make the son of Tabeel king over it."

7. Yet this is what the Sovereign LORD says:
" 'It will not take place,
it will not happen,

8. for the head of Aram is Damascus,
and the head of Damascus is only Rezin.
Within sixty-five years
Ephraim will be too shattered to be a people.

9. The head of Ephraim is Samaria,
and the head of Samaria is only Remaliah's son.
If you do not stand firm in your faith,
you will not stand at all.' "

10. Again the LORD spoke to Ahaz,

11. "Ask the LORD your God for a sign, whether in the deepest depths or in the highest heights."

12. But Ahaz said, "I will not ask; I will not put the LORD to the test."

13. Then Isaiah said, "Hear now, you house of David! Is it not enough to try the patience of men? Will you try the patience of my God also?

14. Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.

15. He will eat curds and honey when he knows enough to reject the wrong and choose the right.

16. But before the boy knows enough to reject the wrong and choose the right, the land of the two kings you dread will be laid waste.

17. The LORD will bring on you and on your people and on the house of your father a time unlike any since Ephraim broke away from Judah—he will bring the king of Assyria."

And there you have it, plain as day. The "prophecy" is a prophecy to Ahaz that he will not be destroyed by Assyria and that his son will be born and he will be a good king. Before his son is even old enough to know right from wrong, the lands he fears will be laid to waste and things will be good for him and his family, better than ever before. CLEARLY this is about Ahaz! Christians like to talk about Cherry picking, but come on, this is possibly the worst case of cherry picking I have ever seen.

Jesus was never called Immanuel, and the scripture is clearly not about him. So much for messianic aspirations of Jesus in the Old Testament.

Why Jesus Cannot Be the Messiah: Part 1

Christians have long presented evidence from the Bible that backs up their claim that Jesus is/was the messiah. And while the external evidence simply blows that evidence out of the water, none of it makes a dent because christians believe only the bible. So, this time I'm playing by their rules, on their turf. I will show that Biblically, Jesus could not have been the Messiah.

Lets start here.

Isaiah 53:10
Yet it was the LORD's will to crush him and cause him to suffer,
and though the LORD makes his life a guilt offering,
he will see his offspring and prolong his days,
and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand.

This is straight out of the famed "suffering servant" passage in Isaiah 52 and 53 in which it supposedly perfectly describes Jesus as the Messiah. However, this part of the suffering servant chapter seems to be over looked most of the time.

In this passage, the lord ensures that he will have offspring and will prolong his days and prosper his hand. Jesus supposedly had no offspring, didn't have a prolonged life, and didn't end up very prosperous. Unless of course you consider being in heaven prosperous.

But that won't work either because if Jesus is god, he is just returning to where he was before, which is hardly prospering. But what offspring does Jesus have? What prolonged days did he have? None and none.

The suffering servant passage is likely talking about the Messiah, but it is clearly talking about a HUMAN messiah, not god in the flesh.

The famed suffering servant passage has its own death knell in it when it assigns clearly human promises to the servant, a human servant who will live on after the sacrifice, not in heaven, but on earth, having kids, prospering, and living a long life.

Gotta believe it, its in the book!

Evolutionarily Preserved Signature Found In The Primate Brain

Evolutionarily Preserved Signature Found In The Primate Brain
Take that you idiot creationists! Another nail in the coffin that you are oblivious to the fact that it was nailed shut a century ago! I still meet christians who some how believe that Evolution is on its last leg and evidence has all but crushed it.
Evolutionarily Preserved Signature Found In The Primate Brain

ScienceDaily (June 24, 2008) — Researchers have determined that there are hundreds of biological differences between the sexes when it comes to gene expression in the cerebral cortex of humans and other primates. These findings indicate that some of these differences arose a very long time ago and have been preserved through evolution.

These conserved differences constitute a signature of sex differences in the brain.

Many more obvious gender differences have been preserved throughout primate evolution; examples include average body size and weight, and genitalia design. This study, believed to be the first of its kind, focuses on gene expression within the cerebral cortex. The cerebral cortex is involved in many of the more complex functions in both humans and other primates, including memory, attentiveness, thought processes and language.

The researchers measured gene expression in the brains of male and female primates from three species: humans, macaques, and marmosets. To measure activity of specific genes, the products of genes (RNA) obtained from the brain of each animal were hybridized to microarrays containing thousands of DNA clones coding for thousands of genes. The authors also investigated DNA sequence differences among primates for genes showing different levels of expression between the sexes.

"Knowledge about gender differences is important for many reasons. For example, this information may be used in the future to calculate medical dosages, as well as for other treatments of diseases or damage to the brain," says team leader Professor Elena Jazin, at Uppsala University, Sweden.

In addition to the results mentioned above, the researchers also report on evolutionary speeds in genes that have been identified as male or female-oriented. This could provide clues about the power of natural selection processes during the evolution of primates.

Lead author Björn Reinius notes that the study does not determine whether these differences in gene expression are in any way functionally significant. Such questions remain to be answered by future studies.

Priest Marching Orders: Recruit from Troops

I don't want to rail on this too much. But lets just say that converting from a group returning from a traumatic event is just evil. People are more susceptible to BS when they have been through a horrible ordeal, like war and a death of a loved one. To take advantage of that is just disgusting.

Dobson: Obama ‘Distorting’ Bible, Pushing ‘Fruitcake Interpretation’ of Constitution

Dobson: Obama ‘Distorting’ Bible, Pushing ‘Fruitcake Interpretation’ of Constitution - America’s Election HQ

Ha ha ha you idiotic tripe spewing idiot! Dobson, you are by for the worst person in the world to be speaking on behalf of christianity, let find out why.

What he is doing is holding you to your own shit. Either the old testament is the word of god or it isn't. You can't call together old testament words for your hatred of gays, then when you are held to old testament standards say that Jesus changed all that. If Jesus changed all that, then shut the hell up about abortion and gay marriage because Jesus didn't say a damn word about them! Idiot! Read your bible and stop twisting it to make your ridiculous idiot beliefs okay with god!

Joshua DuBois, director of religious affairs for Obama’s campaign, said in a statement that a full reading of Obama’s speech shows he is committed to reaching out to people of faith and standing up for families. “Obama is proud to have the support of millions of Americans of faith and looks forward to working across religious lines to bring our country together,” DuBois said.

Dobson reserved some of his harshest criticism for Obama’s argument that the religiously motivated must frame debates over issues like abortion not just in their own religion’s terms but in arguments accessible to all people.

“What the senator is saying is that I can’t seek to pass legislation that bans partial birth abortion because there are people who don’t see that as a moral issue,” Dobson said. “Now that is a fruitcake interpretation of the Constitution. … We don’t have to go to the lowest common denominator of morality which is what he is suggesting. Am I required in a democracy to conform my efforts in the political arena to his bloody notion of what is right with regard to the lives of tiny babies?”

I don't know. Maybe Dobson should read what Jesus instructed christians to do when he left. Give to Ceasar what is Ceasars. Preach the good news. Help the hungry, the orphans, the widows, the homeless, the naked. I don't see ANY presidence for an all out war on what you percieve as immorality. There is nothing in the Bible that gives your work any credibility at all, because Jesus was your opposite. You are an idiot who cherry picks the Bible James, and you should shut your mouth before people who actually know what the bible says call you on your stupidity!

Bush, Musharraf, Ahmadinejad Least Trusted Leaders

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President George W. Bush is ranked only slightly above the rulers of Pakistan and Iran as one of the least-trusted leaders in the world, a survey released on Monday showed.

The survey, carried out by WorldPublicOpinion.org in 20 countries around the world, found that no national leaders inspired wide confidence outside their own countries. But Bush, Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad ranked at the bottom, the polling showed.

Only 23 percent of people outside the United States had "a lot or some" confidence in Bush, compared to 22 percent for Ahmadinejad and 18 percent for Musharraf.

Ladies and gentlemen, one of the most hated men in the world, your President of the United States of America!

LA School Teacher Fired For Being Too “Afrocentric”; Arizona Bill Proposes to Prohibit Teachings Critical of Western Civilization

Democracy Now! Article
Are we really to the point of telling people you can't criticize western civilization? First, it was not patriotic to criticize the troops. Then it was unpatriotic to criticize America. Now it is unpatriotic to criticize western civilization? Bullshit! This if America, and speech is free whether you like it or not, even in schools!

Legalize All Drugs - John Stossel

RealClearPolitics - Articles - Legalize All Drugs

John once again puts forth a killer argument for his point of view. Read the article, I agree with it whole heartedly. But my favorite part I have posted in quotes below.

Myth No. 1: Heroin and cocaine have a permanent effect.

Truth: There is no evidence of that.

In the 1980s, the press reported that "crack babies" were "permanently damaged." Rolling Stone, citing one study of just 23 babies, claimed that crack babies "were oblivious to affection, automatons."

It simply wasn't true . There is no proof that crack babies do worse than anyone else in later life.

Myth No. 2: If you do crack once, you are hooked.

Truth: Look at the numbers -- 15 percent of young adults have tried crack, but only 2 percent used it in the last month. If crack is so addictive, why do most people who've tried it no longer use it?

People once said heroin was nearly impossible to quit, but during the Vietnam War, thousands of soldiers became addicted, and when they returned home, 85 percent quit within one year.

People have free will. Most who use drugs eventually wise up and stop.

And most people who use drugs habitually live perfectly responsible lives, as Jacob Sullum pointed out in "Saying Yes".

Myth No. 3: Drugs cause crime.

Truth: The drug war causes the crime.

Few drug users hurt or rob people because they are high. Most of the crime occurs because the drugs are illegal and available only through a black market. Drug sellers arm themselves and form gangs because they cannot ask the police to protect their persons and property.

In turn, some buyers steal to pay the high black-market prices. The government says heroin, cocaine and nicotine are similarly addictive, and about half the people who both smoke cigarettes and use cocaine say smoking is at least as strong an urge. But no one robs convenience stores for Marlboros.

Alcohol prohibition created Al Capone and the Mafia. Drug prohibition is worse. It's corrupting whole countries and financing terrorism.

Obama Fires Back at McCain Over ‘9/10 Mentality’ Slam

Obama Fires Back at McCain Over ‘9/10 Mentality’ Slam - America’s Election HQ

WASHINGTON — A defiant Barack Obama said Tuesday he would take no lectures from Republicans on which candidate would keep the U.S. safer, a sharp rebuke to John McCain’s aides who said the Democrat had a naive, Sept. 10 mind-set toward terrorism.

“These are the same guys who helped to engineer the distraction of the war in Iraq at a time when we could have pinned down the people who actually committed 9/11,” the presumed nominee told reporters aboard his campaign plane. “This is the same kind of fear-mongering that got us into Iraq … and it’s exactly that failed foreign policy I want to reverse.”

Good show Obama! Show those republicans that we are smarter than that, we know exactly what type of policies have failed us since 9/11. He shouldn't have to hide from any debate on 9/11, I think he holds the upper ground.

Bush asks Congress to clear way for offshore oil drilling

This is something I agree with. Lots of other countries are already allowed to drill off our shores, why can't we? Besides, I think it could be done without causing to many problems. The answer ultimately is allowing other technologies like Toyota's electric minivan to be sold here. But in the mean time.

Obama considering corporate tax cut

Obama considering corporate tax cut - Barack Obama News- msnbc.com

NEW YORK - Democrat Barack Obama said he would consider trimming corporate tax rates as part of a simplification of the U.S. tax code if he is elected to the White House, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday.

Obama said the tax code had too many loopholes and other special breaks for some companies.

"How much you pay in taxes as a corporation a lot of times is going to depend on how good your lobbyist is," the Illinois senator told the newspaper in an interview.

Corporate tax cuts, middle class tax cuts? Better be careful there Barack, you're starting to sound like a conservative! Might end up getting allot of those moderate votes with something like this!

Obama: Bin Laden still free because of GOP tactics

Obama: Bin Laden still free because of GOP tactics - Decision '08- msnbc.com

Damn right! Tell it like it is! Had we not pulled troops from Afghanistan to fight in Iraq, we would have captured Osama Bin Laden already! But lets be honest here, they never wanted to catch Bin Laden, they wanted a reason to keep up with this fear mongering tactic. An Osama Bin Laden in jail would make us too comfortable with life again and we would stop listening to the ridiculous fear tactics of Bush and his Washington Mafia.

Olbermann: McCain should know better

Another brilliant, insightful, and heart wrenching special comment from Keith Olbermann. If this country was run by more people like him, we would have a better country to hand down to our children.

Karl Sagan - Words to Remember

The Pentagon as Energy Insecurity Inc.

Tomgram: Michael Klare, The Pentagon as Energy Insecurity Inc.

Our country has truly sunk into the pit of Militarism and Corporatism if our government is truly considering the Pentagon as the gate keeper of our energy policy! It what world do they live in? Militarize energy? Come on people, wake up and stop this from happening. We are losing our country, we are losing our constitution, we are losing the war against tyranny in our own country!

Violence taught at Islamic school

Report: Violence taught at Islamic school - Education- msnbc.com

Of all the things I can think of that we need in this country, another psychotic religion being taught in school is not one of them! Teaching kids in America that it is okay to kill adulterers and non-converts of Islam is disgusting brain washing. This is why we have the separation of church and state. Any church, and any state! How is this allowed and not being challenged by the ACLU as a separation issue? This is madness!

Impeachment On Hold

What a shame. Dennis Kucinich finally did what should have been done years ago, introduced the articles of impeachment against George W. Bush. Democrats should have been jumping all over this, eating it up and shoving it through congress to make Bush pay for his arrogance, ignorance, and most importantly, completely ignoring the constitution. Yet, instead of backing this up, they sent it into limbo. Nancy Pelosi and her idiotic cohorts killed the bill. Yet, 166 republicans were ready to bring it to the floor. So what happened? Fear. Fear that the democrats would look foolish on an election year. Shame on them. Shame on the democrats for their cowardice once again! They have abandoned the cause of their party to save face because of fear. Shame on them and shame on you Pelosi. I wish I lived in her state so I could NOT vote for her next election!

Kucinich introduces articles of impeachment

Well it is about damn time! This president has used the constitution as toilet paper for too long. Someone needs to hold this ass clown accountable for his actions! He is guilty of treason, at the very least by virtue of outing Valarie Plame. I hope this goes well for him and the democrats. Impeaching a president is a big deal, but this one deserves it much more than Clinton did.

Iraqi Parliament's Push for Sovereignty

Well, is it time to leave yet? Some quotes from the Iraqi parliament.

"The anarchy and chaos in Iraq is linked to the presence of the occupation, not withdrawal from Iraq," Nadeem Al-Jaberi, an MP and co-founder of the Al-Fadhila party, testified.
Under questioning by Republican Congress members, Al-Jaberi repeatedly renounced the "success of the surge," and added, "What we strive for is establishing a balanced relationship between the two countries. But nothing of this could be made possible until the troops withdraw from Iraq."

"Iraqis have enough experience in military training, and we don't need the US to train us," Al-Ulayyan told Truthout. "The problem with the current Iraqi armed forces is not the lack of training, but the lack of loyalty to Iraq."

"All Iraqis - Sunnis and Shiites, Arabs and Kurds, Muslims and Christians, and others - want to live together in one united country," Al-Ulayyan said. "Partitioning Iraq will lead to indefinite violence and destruction."

The MPs' adamancy harkens back to a Lincoln-like cry for unity; a reminder that the Iraqi nationality need not be usurped by disparate religious identities. Al-Jaberi calls the idea of partitioning Iraq a "disaster."

"The vast majority of Iraqis will fight to maintain their country's territorial integrity," he told Truthout.

"We think that the American people and Congress are misinformed about what the Iraqis want," Al-Ulayyan said, adding, "We hope we will have more chances to bring the voices of the majority of Iraqis to America."

Ron Paul plans his own convention

Ron Paul plans his own convention - Pittsburgh Tribune-Review

Now this should be interesting. Bob Barr is the Libertarian candidate for president and is a former republican. Ron Paul is a republican. So will he decide to continue running and run as an independent? If so, we may actually have a four person race. Of course, this can do nothing but help Obama. Splitting the republican vote in three directions will surely help the democrats.

But if republicans had any brains, they would pick one of the true small government candidates, Ron Paul and Bob Barr.

Relax, liberals. You've already won

What a great article this was. It is often hard for liberals, like myself, to accept the great strides made in protecting this nation from the radical right wing neocons that have controlled the government for seven years. There are several things I want to touch on in this article. There are so many good tidbits that I don't want to just let you read it without my comments on some things.

For all its concessions to the pharmaceutical companies, this was the biggest expansion in socialized medicine since Medicare was signed into law by Lyndon Johnson in 1965. That Bush had expanded entitlement became part of the conservative complaint that Bush wasn't a true conservative. Some of that complaining was a simple desire to back away from an unpopular president who had tarnished two brands, "conservative" and "Republican." But it was also true that the GOP expansion of Medicare was a major ideological capitulation.

This really makes me laugh. For all the republican tripe about democrats being socialists, it is the republicans that expanded our biggest social programs, not democrats!

In Bush's first term, the neoconservatives, whose influence had been limited in the Reagan years, called the shots. They rejected international law as a trap and argued that only an American monopoly of brute power, not great power cooperation, could achieve peace. The theory of conservative lawyers is simple: If the United States does it, it's legal, and if the president does it, it's constitutional.

Why won't he just say it? The Bush years have seen the destruction of our international image and influence, as well as the whittling away of our liberty, and the desecration of our constitution by President Bush! Never in all my life would I have expected to see this country say it is okay to torture people! It is an insult to every American that a President allows torture!

"In the United States at this time liberalism is not only the dominant but even the sole intellectual tradition," Lionel Trilling wrote in 1950 in his introduction to "The Liberal Imagination." "For it is the plain fact that nowadays there are no conservative or reactionary ideas in general circulation … the conservative impulse and the reactionary impulse do not … express themselves in ideas but only … in irritable mental gestures which seek to resemble ideas." Almost as soon as he wrote these words, they ceased to be true, thanks to the emergence of significant intellectuals on the right like Milton Friedman, William F. Buckley Jr. and James Q. Wilson.

Today, however, Trilling's words are true again. The Buckleys and Friedmans have been replaced by Goldbergs and Coulters, and their obsessions -- denying the reality of evolution and global warming and blithering about "Islamofascism" and "liberal fascism" -- are accurately described as "irritable mental gestures which seek to resemble ideas."

Talking heads like Ann Coulter, Bill O'Reilly, Shawn Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, and Michael Savage had made sure to repeat these gross generalizations to the point that no one even cares any more. Even die hard republicans don't use "islamofascist" any more. And no one really believes we are headed towards "liberal fascism" which is in itself largely a myth instead of an actual institution that has ever been seen.

This article largely supports what I already knew from the facts. That conservatism is dead. And what the republican party now is a neo-conservative corporatist/fascist imperial party that spends more than the democrats, expands government more than democrats, then claims it is the party of less spending, small government and lower taxes. The problem is, the first two are lies, which makes lowering taxes, simply insane.

McClellan to testify before House in CIA leak case

The Associated Press: McClellan to testify before House in CIA leak case

Well it's about damn time someone started looking into the outing of a CIA operative by the head of our government! This should have happened a couple years ago and Bush and Cheney been impeached! Instead, more rubber stamping. They need to nail Bush and his lackeys for this egregious atrocity against this country.

Hints of Structure beyond the visible Universe

This is the type of thing that may really alter the way we look at the universe and give us some really unique insight to the universe we live in. The structure could possibly be, by one theory, the energy that helped inflate our universe to the size it is now. That would explain a problematic part of the inflation theory, a problem that has left us with no "how" part of the theory.

Regime Change in Heaven

This is too funny!

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. I apologise for getting you out of bed so early. At 0500 hours this morning the combined armed forces of mankind across the globe launched a massive and sustained land, sea and air attack on the Kingdom of Heaven. Thank you, ladies and gentlemen. There will be time for questions later.

As you are all aware, the world's governments have been concerned about the true nature and ultimate purpose of God for some years now. A being that proclaims Himself omnipotent clearly had to be watched closely - we would have been failing in our duty to protect our citizens had we not done so.

Evidence of God's power is overwhelming. Indeed He has said nothing to deny it. He has brought famine on numerous occasions. He has inflicted plagues in the form of Aids, Sars and H5N1. Not a single year has passed without war raging in some corner of the globe, often with His explicit blessing on one side or the other and sometimes on both.

Tsunamis, floods and hurricanes are three more devastating weapons in the deadly armoury He has not only developed but appears all too willing to use. Faced with these already terrifying powers, we tasked the world's intelligence services to establish when - not if, ladies and gentlemen, but when - He will have the capability to launch genuine weapons of mass destruction. I refer, of course, to thunderbolts from heaven.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is my grave duty to inform you that all intelligence conclusively points to the fact that God already possesses such a capability and could launch it at a moment's notice. Please, please. Be calm. Not wishing to alarm the people unnecessarily, we have of course, up until this moment in time, kept this intelligence within the confines of the highest reaches of government.

Behind the scenes we have been attempting to negotiate with God. Indeed, up until as recently as March of 2007 representatives of your governments were trying to open lines of communication. We made it clear we were happy to talk either directly to God or to his Angels. These approaches, I am sure you understand, largely took the form of silent prayer. Unfortunately I have to report that our efforts proved fruitless. The evidence of His presence is all around us, so He claims, yet when we want to talk to Him He is nowhere to be found. Apparently God did not want to listen. Though, of course, being omniscient, He didn't actually need to listen to be aware of our intentions. Either that or He was in hiding. Which seems unlikely, given that He also claims to be omnipresent.

As the world is aware, all nations are united behind the necessity of tackling the problem of God's might before it is too late. This, despite the fact that until recently many nations, for various reasons, have preferred not to confront Him. Some have claimed that notwithstanding His terrible wrath and well-documented history of visiting vengeance upon mankind, He is a force for good in the world. Some countries - in fact, at the latest count, at least half the nations of the world - have at some time even claimed to be His Chosen People.

Yet despite countless appeals to Him, not only over the last few years, but over many centuries, to bring peace to the world, He has blatantly failed to deliver us from evil. We now know that He even harbours terrorists. At least, if they do not come from heaven, we know that heaven is where they go afterwards, as they are only too willing to admit.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have waited long enough. We have given God every chance, but our patience is at an end. I put it to you, can a being who chooses to be known under the guise of a number of different aliases ever be trusted? The time has come for regime change in heaven. (interruption) I'm sorry? Excuse me a moment.

Ladies and gentlemen, I have just been informed that our mission has been successful. The forces of the people are now in control of all key targets. Overcoming determined resistance ... (interruption) ... Excuse me, little resistance ... (interruption) ... I'm sorry, apparently no resistance at all, our forces battled ... (interruption) er, strolled into ... what appears to be a deserted realm.

(To aide: "What, no angels? No seraphim, no cherubim? No hosts of heavenly choirs? No ... souls of the eternally blessed? I was hoping to meet my mother again ..." Aide: "There's no evidence of anything, Mr President.")

(Speaker takes sip of water.)

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you victory. Today marks the triumph of mankind. Heaven has fallen.

And may God save us all.

Bacteria make major evolutionary shift in the lab

Bacteria make major evolutionary shift in the lab - life - 09 June 2008 - New Scientist

I'll make this article shorter for everyone who doesn't want to read it all. In short, over the last twenty years, bacteria in a laboratory has spontaneously evolved in front of the scientists eyes! Thats right, they have seen evolution in action themselves now with E-Coli bacteria evolving to be able to metabolism citrate! This is the type of thing that should crush creationists argument against evolution, but it won't. It is the type of evidence they have always asked for, but will ignore it now. We have links in human evolution now, we have links in many animals evolution, we have geological evidence of evolution, and now we have seen evolution happen in real time.

Evolution happened people, no god created you! To say other wise is now simply ignorant and ridiculous!(as if it wasn't before).

Logical Proof of the Existence of a Divine Creator, Why Atheism is Not Logically Sound

CFP: Logical Proof of the Existence of a Divine Creator, Why Atheism is Not Logically Sound

Once again some christian shows their complete lack of understanding of the Universe, assuming that is some how complete planned out and structured like a building, instead of loosely structured and full of cosmic anomalies and irregularities. As well, he once again misses the ultimate problem. If it is structured like he says, that in no way gets you closer to the divine creator. It isn't "big bang or god". That isn't the way it works. Even if logically there absolutely must be a creator, you are still obligated to prove the existence of said creator and prove that said creator is indeed divine. Could we not be in someone else's petri dish? And just because you think you found a flaw in one natural explanation, that doesn't exclude all other possible natural explanations.

And then comes the good stuff. How many creators? What is the nature of the creators? Why not an entire group of creators? See, what these people are trying to get to is admittance of the existence of their god. Which their argument still doesn't do.

Ayatollah: U.S. military is Iraq's main problem

Ayatollah: U.S. military is Iraq's main problem - Conflict in Iraq- msnbc.com

Duh. We are the only ones who don't know that we are the problem. If Muslims hate Americans, then why on earth do we think our presence could make things better? I know why, because we aren't staying for their benefit, we are staying because our cowboy president is an idiot and a self serving war monger. He keeps repeating the "no surrender" mantra to himself, not realizing that if we leave, Iraq wins, which is the whole damn reason we are supposed to be there, to destroy the dictatorship and allow them to build their own damn country!

Black Pastors Choose Words Carefully While Supporting Obama

Not sure how I feel about this. I mean, I agree that pastors and churches should stay away from endorsing and preaching for a candidate. The problem is that republican pastors and hyper conservative churches don't stay away from it. They seethe in it, relish it, and push and push and preach for their candidates, many times allowing them to speak at the church. Yes, I know technically that is probably illegal, but which candidate is going to piss off the radical right wing nuts and contest that?

McCain - The Defender of the Christian Right?

No, just another idiot who doesn't know a damn about this countries founding. He repeats the same tired idiotic lies that continue to plague this country. The same myths and proven false beliefs that keep the religious right popping. The idea that this is a christian nation, that we were founded on christian principles. Now, I don't really want to get into it to much, but when Jefferson says in writing that he despises the christian faith and finds nothing redeeming about it, then I would say that the writer of our Declaration of Independence, did not want a nation founded on Christianity. As well, when he wrote the "establishment clause" in the constitution, then wrote in a letter that this clause was written to create a wall of separation between church and state, then I think he damn well means a separation of church and state!

And when Washington says, "it is oft times beneficial to carry a bible, so as to earn the respect of the faith before election time", I think it is pretty clear that he, our first president, wasn't even a christian that you would vote for today.

And when the devoutly christian John Adams writes in the Treatise of Tripoli that "The United States is in no way founded on the christian religion" I don't think you can argue that he helped found this nation on the christian faith!

How stupid do you have to be to ignore such evidence? I haven't even gotten around to the other founding fathers. The majority of them were deists, which means they believe in a "god" or a "higher power" but they did not and would not profess Christianity! Heck, much of our constitution is taken from the words of Thomas Paine, a deist who hated Christianity so much that he wrote a book against it called "the age of enlightenment". And he was friends with a good many of our fore fathers! This is the person they associated with! The Jeremiah Wright of his day! Controversial, unpatriotic to any country, and fully standing for the people of the day, and them alone. If our politicians are guilty by association, then our fore fathers were much closer to atheism than Christianity. And they sure as hell didn't wish for a nation founded on "Judeo-christian values".

The Arrogance of Obama's Leftist Supporters

RealClearPolitics - Articles - The Arrogance of Obama's Leftist Supporters

I would expect this from a psychotic right wing nut doofus who doesn't seem to understand reality. Here is a reality check for you. Rev. Wright was mostly right. Set aside the incredibly ridiculous AIDS conspiracy theory, he was right. The recent priest? He was right. And about his associations? Well, I believe Jesus associated with bad people too, yet christians still don't get it that to touch peoples lives you have to get down in the gutter with them. They are too self righteous and stupid to realize that no one helps the people of Chicago like Trinity and that everyone up there knows that if you want to help the people, you have to go through Trinity!

The right wing nut crusade against Obama goes against every core christian value you can muster! Judgemental against those not as "well groomed" as others. He associates with the lowly, he speaks with those others hate, he tolerates intolerance to feed the hungry, house the homeless, and cloth the naked. These are all things christians should do if they weren't so busy being "better " than every one else!

You self righteous arrogant brainwashed right wing nut republican fascist ass hats! You have some freaking nerve beating down Obama for doing the precise thing the man you worship did! You should be kissing his ass! Socialist? Really? Well, I have to wonder, would Jesus provide everyone with health care? Would Jesus make sure everyone had food and money even if they were out of a job? What would Jesus do you christless monkeys in christian clothing?

Jesus, ate with tax collectors. Jesus turned the other cheek when mocked and killed (he didn't protest and throw a bitch fit!). Jesus didn't allow the prostitute to suffer the punishment of the law! Jesus gave people free food! Jesus gave allot of himself for free! Do you christians do that? No! Not unless it is a "christian" organization, or church. You help your own for the most part and justify your stinginess and immoral actions with old testament scriptures, and then when it is turned on you, then Jesus fulfilled the old testament.

Well, if thats the case, the you have no argument for banning gays or their actions. You have not base to castigate Obama for his associations. You have no merit in banning prostitution. You have no cause to force religion to be taught in the class room. You should be a quiet example of Jesus love and tolerance, not the epitome of arrogance, ignorance, and self righteous slop!

Jesus would be ashamed of you for the way you use propaganda against Obama for working with the lowly! Jesus would be embarrassed by your actions which seek to ban peoples actions based on old testament law! You use your bible with convenience instead of practice of actual biblical truth. You pick and chose time and place for when old testament is valid and when it is not, carefully making sure you don't stand in judgement yourself.

Yet, you do stand in judgment. Everyone else can see your flaming self righteous arrogant hypocrisy, and you look foolish and idiotic! You try to blame in on atheists and the country going "immoral" when in reality, it is you that are immoral. Fundamentalist psychotic right wing self righteous wind bags who in no way represent christ in this world. If Jesus existed, he would surely say, depart from me, I never knew you!

NYT: Foreign reaction to Obama is favorable

NYT: Foreign reaction to Obama is favorable - The New York Times- msnbc.com

And why wouldn't it be favorable? The world has watched this country be ruled by rich white men for the last hundred years, so this is a huge deal! Considering most of the world that is not of European descent is of color, he truly represents us well to the rest of the world. Even if he isn't a great president (which I believe he will be) the very fact that he was president will be spectacular and beneficial for us and the rest of the world. This goes beyond polics and policy, this is about how we represent ourselves to the world.

DNC bans lobbyist money; Dean remains as chair

DNC bans lobbyist money; Dean remains as chair - Barack Obama News- msnbc.com

Way to go DNC! Lead the way and stomp out lobbyist ownership of our government. Lets show McCain what it is really like when you make a pledge to stop helping lobbyists out. Instead of his fanciful two faced lying about lobbyists, we can REALLY stop being influenced by lobbyists.

Revealed: Secret plan to keep Iraq under US control

Revealed: Secret plan to keep Iraq under US control - Middle East, World - The Independent

Frighteningly indepth look by the Independent. Our government, in the middle of Iraq demanding a timeline for our with drawal, and we are planning to hand around for as long as we damn well please. Bush, get your head out of your ass and do what the Sovereign free nation of Iraq says, and give them a time table! So says their constitution that they voted on, you can't stay without their approval monkey ass!

Born Stupid: Left Behind Website

Now what is great about this is that they charge $40 a year for the service! And here is the kicker, since no one knows the hour or the day, they can pull this shit off indefinitely and no one will ever question it!

The site, the brainchild of Mark Heard, charges $40 a year for the service, which also includes 150 megabytes of encrypted storage space, recommended for financial information, Threat Level reports.

"In the encrypted portion of your account you can give them access to your banking, brokerage, hidden valuables and powers of attorneys," the site says.

"There won't be any bodies, so probate court will take seven years to clear your assets to your next of kin. Seven years, of course, is all the time that will be left," it explains. "So, basically the Government of the Antichrist gets your stuff, unless you make it available in another way."

5.5% Unemployment

And now we get to see the true form of Bush economics. After years of being told to just wait, this is what it brings. His tax cuts and other bandaid programs merely stemmed the tide until he was going to be out of office. Now, he doesn't give a rats ass. He will sit back and enjoy his endless paycheck and oil profits while the country sinks in flames. Worst president ever, and america's greatest failure.

The Global Warming Time Bomb

First, we were misled. Seems like NASA was too.

[quote] Watchdog: NASA misled on global warming studies: WASHINGTON (AP) -- NASA's press office "marginalized or mischaracterized" studies on global warming between 2004 and 2006, the agency's own internal watchdog concluded.

In a report released Monday, NASA's inspector general office called it "inappropriate political interference" by political appointees in the press office. It said the agency's top management wasn't part of the censorship, nor were career officials.[/quote]

Now comes the bad results of our ignoring the problem.

[quote]In Spain, Water Is a New Battleground:FORTUNA, Spain — Lush fields of lettuce and hothouses of tomatoes line the roads. Verdant new developments of plush pastel vacation homes beckon buyers from Britain and Germany. Golf courses — dozens of them, all recently built — give way to the beach. At last, this hardscrabble corner of southeast Spain is thriving.
There is only one problem with the picture of bounty: this province, Murcia, is running out of water. Swaths of southeast Spain are steadily turning into desert, a process spurred on by global warming and poorly planned development.[/quote]

Of course, poor planning due to not believing global warming was happening has long been a problem.

But things are getting worse. Apparently the melting itself might release more greenhouse gases.

[quote]UCR research team sees climate threat under Arctic ice:Global warming could release long-dormant stores of methane gas trapped beneath the Arctic permafrost, causing an abrupt and catastrophic climate change like one that occurred 635 million years ago, UC Riverside researchers have determined.

Back then, the sheets of ice that covered Earth started to collapse, releasing methane gas that warmed the planet and caused the ice to retreat over a period of 100 to 1,000 years, said Martin Kennedy, a geology professor in UCR's Department of Earth Sciences. Kennedy led the research team.[/quote]

But still, our understanding as a nation is impeded by the likes of ignorant people like our president who care more about money than the planet. Did he care about the "enormous cost" of the Iraq war? DIdn't think so.

[quote]Bush Warns Against Senate Climate Change Bill:WASHINGTON — President Bush weighed in Monday against a Senate bill that would require dramatic cuts in climate-changing greenhouse pollution, cautioning senators "to be very careful about running up enormous costs for future generations of Americans."

The Senate climate bill expected to be debated much of this week would cut emissions of carbon dioxide from burning fossil fuels and other greenhouse gases by about 70 percent over the next four decades. The bill targets power plants, refineries, factories and transportation.[/quote]

Ladies and Gentlemen, the time for debate is over. The results of global warming as predicted fifty years ago are starting to happen, earlier than predicted. They were right, there is no way to predict how much our increased usage of fossil fuels and increased pollution will spead this up. It is already way ahead of schedule. It sounds as if it may be to late, especially if they are right yet again, and there is a large supply of methane hidden under the arctic ice.

Argue all you want, the evidence has always been there, the results and predictions are starting to happen, the debate is over, you just don't know it. Any longer of the ridiculous squabbling from the right, and we can hand the next generation a big pile of crap that will take THOUSANDS of years to fix.
